Gladwin Township Board Meeting

June 17, 2026

 

            Meeting called to order at 6:30 by Supervisor Weaver.  Pledge to the flag.  All board members present except Jennifer Slabic was absent.  Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by Doug Ritchie to approve the May minutes.  M/C Treasurer’s report was given general fund $407,017.01 and Members First money market $46,919.42.  Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded by Doug Ritchie to receive and file the treasurer’s report. M/C  Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Jodie Klamer to pay the bills in the amount of $27,882.47.  M/C.

 

            Alan Donaldson, County Commissioner was present and gave report.  He said that the board of commissioners approved a 6 month moratorium on data processing  centers and a 3 month moratorium on solar operations in the county.  He also mentioned that the company that the county hired to do the master plan for parks and recreation for the county has done nothing in a year and requested to hire a new company.  The board thanked Alan for his support and dedication to the residents concerns in the county.

 

            Discussion on the roof and the supervisor was requesting that we go with shingles and not metal.  The board agreed to putting an ad in the paper bids for roofing. 

 

            Kristie Simrau made a motion seconded by Doug Ritchie made a motion to sign a contract with the Gladwin County Equalization full service option 3 for tax bills.  M/C.

 

            Supervisor talked to Jeff Courneya from the road commission regarding our brine application.  They only did a single pass on the roads we designated for a double pass.  They came back out for some of the roads.  The chloride company agreed to deduct $1,000 from the bill.  They will do a double pass on our designated roads for the next application on July 11th.  Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded by Doug Ritchie to pay the road commission $9,360.36 which is discounted by $1,000. M/C.

 

            Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded by Doug Ritchie to sign the contract for Old M-30 paving the township share would be $25,000.00.  Roll call vote Klamer – yes; Simrau-yes; Weaver- yes; Ritchie – yes and Slabicabsent  4 ayes 1 absent   M/C.

The gravel contract for Shell Road was for 1400 yards or 1200 yards.  The board discussed since we are spending the money on paving we should do the 1200 yards for this year. 

 

            Treasurer has a delinquent personal property tax of $114.53 that she has been trying for months to collect.  She will send another certified letter.

 

            Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by Doug Ritchie to adjourn at 7:15.
