Gladwin Township Board Meeting

May 20, 2026

 

            Meeting called to order at 6:30 by Supervisor Weaver.  Pledge to the flag.  All board members present.  Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by Doug Ritchie to accept the April minutes. M/C Treasurer’s report general account $389,354.49 and money market account $46,774.53. Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded by Jennifer Slabic to receive and file the treasurer’s report.  M/C.  Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Jodie Klamer to pay the bills in the amount of $11,987.96 M/C.  Alan Donaldson, County Commissioner, was present and gave his report on the county.  Alan stated that Tami O’Donnell, County Commissioner, passed away and the board will have to appoint a new commissioner within 30 days.

 

            Clerk commented on getting bids for the roof here at the township hall.  The clerk will check with Garold on the front decking to see if he is interested in replacing it.

 

            Property split for Michelle and Robert Findling at 868 Weber Road.  They are requesting taking 5 acres from parcel # 080-035-303-002-01 leaving this parcel at 48 acres and adding5 acres to 080-035-303-001-01 to make that parcel 10 acres. Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Kristie Simrau for Resolution #26-14 to add 5 acres to parcel # 080-035-303-001 making that 10 acres.  Roll call vote Klamer-yes; Simrau-yes; Weaver-yes; Slabic-yes; Ritchie-yes.  Ayes carried M/C.

 

            Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Kristie Simrau to send a letter to the County Commissioners in favor of a countywide moratorium on solar and wind, battery and data plants until the zoning can be updated to address.  Roll call vote Klamer-yes; Simrau-yes; Weaver-yes; Slabic-yes; Ritchie-yes ayes carried M/C.  The board members all signed the letter.

 

            Cemetery report by Jennifer, Brian has mowed twice and done the spring cleanup.  Brian has also trimmed a lot of brush.  Supervisor will talk to Brian regarding how to charge for the brush clean up.  Jennifer stated that someone had thought that there was someone trying to dig up a urn.  It did not appear that anything was being dug up.  Jennifer commented regarding a couple of dead trees at the cemetery.

 

            Fireboard report in print.

 

            Supervisor received a call from Dave at the road commission and said the Old M-30 paving project would be $25,000 instead of the $20,000 we agreed upon.  The board discussed and decided to go ahead with the $25,000 and we will make a motion when we get the proposal.
