Gladwin Township Board Meeting

October 29, 2025

Special Meeting

Meeting called to order at 6:30 by Supervisor Weaver.  Pledge to the flag.  All board members present.

The supervisor called a special meeting to decide what garbage company to hire for the next five years and set the dollar amount of assessment.

Discussion was had regarding the three bidders: GFL, Republic and Waste Management.  The clerk expressed the good service that we have had with GFL and having a specific contact person for any complaints. The supervisor also commented on the good service and our contact person.  The treasurer prepared a spreadsheet with all of the information from the bids.  Republic would start their first year less than we pay now with GFL and they have no fuel service charge and no charge for second tote.  GFL does have a surcharge if fuel is $5.00 or more.   Waste Management came in higher than both.  The clerk had contacted Sage Township and Hamilton Township that has Republic and they are both satisfied with service.  The treasurer said Beaverton City likes Republic.  The board could not justify going with the higher bid with receiving favorable references.  Doug Ritchie made a motion seconded by Jennifer Slabic to hire Republic for garbage pickup for the next 5 years.  M/C  Republic’s trash pickup day will be Thursday starting January 2026.

Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Jennifer Slabic 6:35.

Respectfully Submitted,
