Gladwin Township Board Meeting

October 15, 2025

 

            Meeting called to order at 6:30 by Supervisor Weaver.  Pledge to the flag.  All board members present.  Other people that were present were Alan Donaldson, Corey Cuddie, Jeremy Cuddie, Rick Fancon & Kevin Kendell.  Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Jennifer Slabic to accept the September minutes.  M/C Treasurer’s report general account $291,216.10 and money market account $45,356.73. Motion by Jennifer Slabic seconded by Doug Ritchie to receive and file the treasurer’s report.  M/C.  Motion by Jennifer Slabic seconded by Jodie Klamer to pay the bills in the amount of $21,020.14.  M/C. Alan Donaldson, county commissioner was present and gave report.

 

            Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded by Doug Ritchie for Resolution #25- 18 for 2025 Tax Rate Request to adopt the millage rate of 0.7505 used for township operating expenses.  Roll call vote Klamer-yes, Simrau-yes, Weaver-yes, Slabic-yes and Ritchie-yes;  ayes carried M/C

 

            Garbage bids opened.

Republic 1st year $13.34, 2nd year $13.87, 3rd year $14.43, 4th year $15.01, 5th year $15.61

GFL 1st year $15.47, 2nd year $15.93, 3rd year $16.41, 4th year $16.90, 5th year $17.41

Waste Management  $16.75

 

Rick Fancon from GFL stated when his bid was read that he calculated that bid wrong and that was not the correct rates.  The board tabled the decision to review further.  The assessor does need the amount per household before November.  The current rate per household per year is $175.

 

            Cemetery report from Jennifer Slabic – no burials

 

            Mary Moylen, Chair of the Gladwin County Republican Party was present to discuss petitions being circulated across the state that could possibly be on the ballot in 2026.

            Fireboard minutes in print. Supervisor reported that Dave Petterich called regarding repairing Old M-30 with paving and was wondering if Gladwin Township would be interested in sharing the cost.

 

            Jodie Klamer commented on requesting amish signs to be put up.  The road commission does not think that would be the answer to the accidents.  The road commission is willing to have a joint meeting with the amish and the township to discuss this safety concern.

 

            Motion by Jennifer Slabic seconded by Jodie Klamer to adjourn at 8:03 pm.
