Gladwin Township Board Meeting

 

June 18, 2025

 

Meeting called to order at 6:30 by Supervisor Weaver.  All board members present. Pledge to the flag.  Other people present were Corey Cuddie, Jeremy Cuddie and John Vanderhagen

  Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by Jennifer Slabic to approve minutes from the May meeting. M/C Treasurer’s report was given and the general account is $350,841.08 and Members First Credit Union Savings Account $6,381.14 Members First Credit Union CD $38,837.51. Motion by Jennifer Slabic seconded by Doug Ritchie to accept and file the treasurer’s report as presented M/C  The clerk presented the bills to be paid in the amount of $35,005.37 the clerk commented about a check to Jennifer Slabic for a foundation that needed redone to be included in the bills.  Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by Jennifer Slabic to pay the bills in the amount of $35,005.37  M/C.

Alan Donaldson was absent.

The clerk will put a notice in the newspaper for two weeks for the bids for the garbage collection.  The current contract expires in December.   Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Kristie Simrau to have the treasurer collect the school taxes.  The board signed the contract with the Gladwin Community Schools to collect taxes for the school. M/C.

Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded by Jodie Klamer to sign the contract with the Equalization Department to perform the entire process for our tax statements. M/C.

Kristie Simrau commented on the Road Commission getting Nickless and Ridge Road brined for the detour on M-18 much appreciated.  Kristie Simrau made a motion seconded by Jodie Klamer to do a double pass of brine on Nickless Road, Ridge Road and Youngs Road for the next brining in July. M/C.

Cemetery report from Jennifer, they had two cremations and two full burials.  Will be burning the burn area at Ridge Cemetery.  When moving a very large headstone the foundation was not in good shape and broke.  The township will pay the cost for the new foundation.

The supervisor gave out 4 blight tickets.  Two on Parkway and two on Wagarville Road.  He has spoken to all of the property owners.  Discussion regarding blight and possible resolutions.
