Gladwin Township Board Meeting
January 15, 2025
Meeting called to order at 6:30
by Supervisor. All board members were
present. Others present Corey Cuddie, Jeremy
Cuddie, Alan Donaldson representatives from Invenergy. Pledge to the flag. Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by Doug
Ritchie to approve minutes from the December meeting. M/C Treasurer’s report
was given and the general account is $250,979.89 and Members First Credit Union
Savings Account $37,595.94, Members First Credit Union CD $6,188.41. Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Kristie
Simrau to accept and file the treasurer’s report as presented. M/C. The bills
were presented to be paid in the amount of $12,918.05. Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Jodie
Klamer to pay the bills in the amount of $12,918.05. M/C.
Alan Donaldson, County
Commissioner, was present and gave report.
Alan reported that the county will be forming a committee to form a new
master plan. Also they will be forming a master plan for the parks in the
county. Alan said that they would like
interest from all of the township boards.
Discussion regarding the drain
assessments for the township. The clerk
suggested paying all of the one year and two year assessments in our new fiscal
year. The 11 year assessment we can make
yearly payments. The clerk verified this plan with the drain commissioner and
they approved.
The board met for their budget
workshop and discussed some changes in charges for the township. Kristie Simrau made a motion seconded by Doug
Ritchie to increase the Board of Review wage to $50 for half day and $100 for a
full day. M/C Kristie Simrau made a motion seconded by Doug Ritchie to increase
full casket burial to $650 year round, cremations over 15 x 15 will be $400,
infant casket burial $300, disinterment full casket will be $1,000 and
non-resident burial will be an extra $100.
M/C. Kristie Simrau made a motion
seconded by Doug Ritchie to increase the hall rental to $75 with a $50
deposit. M/C. All of the increases will be added to our
Gladwin Township Fee Schedule effective April 1, 2025.
Cemetery report by
Jennifer. She had one full burial. Also discussed was a plan moving forward in
working with the funeral homes. Jennifer
and staff at the Hall Kokotovich Funeral Home had some issues over a previous
burial regarding lots owned by family members.
The board discussed the previous policy for heirs owning lots. Supervisor will stop by the funeral home to
discuss.
Supervisor stated he needed to
get the brine contract in. Board wants
after Memorial Day and after July 4th.
Jodie Klamer commented on the
Legislative Breakfast she attended.
Jodie also commented on the Leadership course she is in and loves it.
