Gladwin Township Board Meeting
June 19, 2024
Meeting called to order at 6:30
by Supervisor. All board members were
present. Pledge to the flag. Other people present were Jennifer Slabic, Ron Taylor Corey Cuddie, Jeremy Cuddie, Garold
Klein, Tom Lennon, and Keith Edick.
Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by John Mella
to approve minutes from the May meeting. M/C Treasurer’s report was given and
the general account is $375,227.49 and Members First Credit Union Savings
Account $6,088.27 Members First Credit Union CD $36,987.66. Motion by Doug
Ritchie seconded by John Mella to accept and file the
treasurer’s report as presented. M/C. The clerk presented the bills to be paid
in the amount of $30,193.92. Motion by
John Mella seconded by Doug Ritchie to pay the bills
in the amount of $30,193.92. M/C.
County Commissioner- Ron Taylor
was present and gave report. Discussion on Solar Leases and the Planning
commission. There was an extensive discussion regarding the solar leases in our
township.
Karyn Tomczyk – candidate for
55th Circuit Court Judge for Gladwin and Clare Counties.
John Mella
had Mr. Bontrager here at the hall and they got up on the roof and John said
the roof is in bad condition so Mr. Bontrager gave him an estimate to replace
the roof with steel. The clerk will keep
the bid and the board will ask for additional bids when the time comes to
replace the roof.
The clerk requested a pay
increase for the election workers for our township. They currently get paid $10 per hour which
has not been raised for more many years.
The clerk gave some comparisons and requested a pay raise to $12 for
workers and $14 for chairperson. Motion
by John Mella seconded by Jodie Klamer to raise the
rates for election workers to $12 per hour for election inspectors and $14 for
the chairperson per hour. M/C.
Clerk reminded of the election
inspector training coming up in July.

Jennifer gave the cemetery
report. There were 3 full burials and 2
cremations last month. The cemeteries
were mowed for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Lee Ramsey Funeral Home was requesting the township to put temporary
markers in to identify the graves before the headstone arrives. Jeff and Jennifer Slabic
are putting in the markers on the cemetery lots for $5 per marker.
John gave the fireboard report.
Supervisor would like to get 10
yards of gravel for holes in existing driveways in Ridge Cemetery. The board agreed to get 10 yards of gravel.
Public comment. Keith Edick was present and asked some
questions regarding the solar farms and to commissioner Taylor regarding the
planning commission.
Supervisor had a statement for
a $100 permit fee to Consumers to get a permit to get a stop light on M-30 /Wagarville intersection.
Consumers will get us the cost for the light after they get the permit
and prepare an estimate. This permit
does not require us to go ahead with the light.
Clerk mentioned about a phone
call from GFL regarding a resident on 420 Burwood that puts their trash can out
after the driver goes by and the driver will no longer be picking up his trash
after he turns around and heads back out.
