Gladwin Township Board Meeting
March 20, 2024
Meeting called to order at 6:30
by Supervisor Weaver. All board members
present. Pledge to the flag. Other
people present were Jennifer Slabic, Corey Cuddie,
Jeremy Cuddie, Ron Taylor and Bernadette Weaver. Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by John Mella to approve minutes from the February meeting. M/C
Treasurer’s report was given and the general account is $287,116.45 and Members
First Credit Union Savings Account $6,086.97 Members First Credit Union CD $36,579.54.
Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by Kristie Simrau to accept and file the
treasurer’s report as presented. The
clerk presented the bills to be paid in the amount of $65,104.79. Motion by John Mella
seconded by Doug Ritchie to pay the bills in the amount of $65,104.79

Ron Taylor, County Commissioner
was present and gave a report. He stated
that he would not be running in the next election.
Clerk gave the budget amendments
for the 2023-2024 budget. Motion by
Kristie Simrau seconded by Doug Ritchie to approve the budget amendments for
2023-2024 as follows: Township Board
Professional - $240.00; Drains - $1200; Election Wages - $800; Election
Supplies & Expense $8,310; Clerk Supplies - $1220; Reimbursement for
Township - $2052.95 Professional Services - $135; Equipment & Supplies
$2252; Contracted Mowing and Mtn $ 120; Contract Services -$ 500; Fire
Protection Contractor - $5,182.00; Insurance Membership Fee -$14; Insurance -
$703. M/C
Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded
by Doug Ritchie to close the regular meeting and hold the public hearing on the
2024-2025 budget at 6:45. M/C Discussion on the 2024-2025 budget. Motion to close the public hearing on the
2024-2025 budget by Doug Ritchie seconded by Jodie Klamer at 6:48 and go back
to the regular meeting. M/C.
Clerk presented the 2024-2025
Budget. Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded
by Doug Ritchie to approve the 2024-2025 Budget that was presented. Roll call vote Klamer-yes; Simrau- yes, Weaver-yes, Mella-yes,
Ritchie- yes. Ayes carried motion
carried. The 2024-2025 Budget has been
adopted.
The 2024-2025 Resolutions. Motion by John Mella
seconded by Doug Ritchie for Resolution 24 - 4-10 for the salaries for the
board members Supervisor $6700; junk enforcement $750; Deputy Supervisor $300;
Clerk $14,000; Deputy Clerk $400; Treasurer $13,200; Deputy Treasurer $400;
Trustee $100 per diem. Roll call Klamer- yes, Simrau
–yes, Weaver-yes, Mella-yes, Ritchie-yes; Ayes
carried motion carried.
Doug Ritchie seconded by John Mella made a motion for Resolution 24-11 to designate Huntington
Bank of Gladwin to be the depository for the township general account and tax
account for the fiscal year and CD and savings account in Members First Credit
union. Roll call Klamer- yes, Simrau –yes, Weaver-yes, Mella-yes,
Ritchie-yes Ayes carried motion carried.

Motion by John Mella seconded by Jodie Klamer for Resolution 23- 12 to
adopt the millage request to be levied for 2024 tax year of 1-mill assessment
on real property for the Gladwin Rural Urban Fire District. Roll call Klamer-
yes, Simrau –yes, Weaver-yes, Mella-yes,
Ritchie-yes Ayes carried motion carried.
Motion made by Jodie Klamer
seconded by Doug Ritchie for Resolution 24-13 to assess each dwelling $175
annually for garbage/refuse fee to be charged on the December 2024 tax billing.
Roll call Klamer- yes, Simrau –yes, Weaver-yes, Mella-yes, Ritchie-yes Ayes carried motion carried.
Motion made by Doug Ritchie
seconded by Jodie Klamer for Resolution 24-14 for General Appropriation Act
with the General Revenue of $321,500.00 and expenditures of $301,150.00 and a
contingency of $20,350.00. Bills to be
paid prior to board approval are Consumers Energy. Roll call Klamer- yes, Simrau –yes, Weaver-yes, Mella-yes,
Ritchie-yes Ayes carried motion carried.
Motion made by John Mella seconded by Doug Ritchie for Resolution 24-15 to set
the regular township board meeting on the third Wednesday of every month at
6:30 pm for the year of 2024-2025. Roll call Klamer- yes, Simrau
–yes, Weaver-yes, Mella-yes, Ritchie-yes Ayes carried
motion carried.
The township board acknowledged
Bernadette Weaver for her many years of working with the township as
assessor. The board thanked her and
wished her well.
Jennifer Slabic
gave the cemetery report, two burials.
Jennifer had prices for the grave lot markers. The prices were for 1300 markers. She had
some prices of $11,500 and $12,500 and then she showed the board of some
homemade ones that Jeff Slabic made out of
stainless. The charge for the homemade
ones would be $7800 for product and labor.
Motion by Doug Ritchie about the gravel for the roads at the cemetery. Greaves quote is
$5710 and Arden Shell is $8750. Motion
by John Mella seconded by Jodie Klamer to hire Greaves trucking for the gravel and making the roadways in
the cemetery. M/C.
John Mella
reported that there is a new bulletin board at the Ridge Cemetery. John Mella gave the
fireboard report.
Supervisor commented talked to
Christy VanTiem the county treasurer regarding the landbank grant for
blight. Motion by Kristie Simrau
seconded by John Mella to work with Gladwin County
Landbank on parcel of property on 2742 Parkway Ct. parcel #
080-031-400-013-00. Supervisor also
commented on checking with Consumers on the traffic light at Wagarville and M-30 intersection they will get us an
estimate.
Supervisor commented on the
gravel work for this year. He suggested
one mile on Riegle Road and finish the remaining 2 miles of Weber Road east of
Hockaday. Motion by Kristie Simrau
seconded by John Mella to do the gravel jobs and use
ARPA funds for the amount above our budget. M/C.
Supervisor commented that one
person came for Board of Review and they had two hardship cases.
The clerk commented on having
Klein Construction get prices for new toilets and sinks in the restrooms. Kristie said she will do the painting and
decorating. The board can use the $800
contribution to the township to cover some of the cost.
