Gladwin Township Board Meeting

July 19, 2023

 

Meeting called to order at 6:30 by Deputy Supervisor Pam Weaver.  All board members were present except Bob Weaver. Pledge to the flag.  Other people present were Jennifer Slabic, Zach Bates, Dave Peeterich- Gladwin County Road Commission.  Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by John Mella to approve minutes from the June meeting. M/C Treasurer’s report was given and the general account is $353,518.48 and Members First Credit Union Savings Account $6,079.29 Members First Credit Union CD $35,518.78. Motion by John Mella seconded by Doug Ritchie to accept and file the treasurer’s report as presented. M/C. The clerk presented the bills to be paid in the amount of $16,739.17.  The clerk mentioned about receiving the $2,000 grant money from the Gladwin Foundation that the township authorized the Fire Department to have this year came in and is being paid to the fire dept. Motion by Jodie Klamer seconded by John Mella to pay the bills in the amount of $16,739.17. M/C.

Dave Petterich – Gladwin County Road Commission was present talking about the upcoming renewal of the roads and bridges millage in August.  Mr. Petterich commented on how much Gladwin Township benefits from the road millage and will continue to.

County Commissioner- Ron Taylor was present and gave report. He stated about the upcoming election in August regarding the 4 millages.

Zach Bates, Soil Conservation District, was present to discuss different projects they are working on and things to come.  He also stated that there is a millage for soil conservation on the ballot for August as well.

There was a proposal recommended by Bernie Weaver for a property split for Leon & Vona Wheeler in Section 26 of 37.75 acres.  Motion for Resolution # 23-14 by John Mella seconded by Doug Ritchie to approve a property split for Leon & Vona Wheeler to split a 37.75 acre parcel on Nettleton Road into two parcels one consisting of 17.75 acres and a 20 acre parcel.  Roll call vote: Ritchie-yes; Mella-yes; Simrau-yes; Klamer-yes.  Ayes carried  M/C.

The clerk asked for the following workers to be approved for August 8th election, Pam Weaver, Anne Patsey, Phyllis Greer and Kearstin Simrau.  The board approved the workers.

The clerk presented the board with the proposal for the Cost of Services contract with the Gladwin Equalization.  Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded by John Mella to approve the contract with option 3.  M/C.

Jennifer gave the cemetery report.  One cremation and the lawn was mowed twice.  Jennifer stated she will be on vacation from July28 – August 7, 2023.  Any questions or calls go to Kristie as her deputy.

John Mella gave the fireboard report.  John also stated about attending the Hazardous Mitigation meetings monthly.  The board appreciates his attendance at those meetings.
