Gladwin Township Board Meeting
September 21, 2022
Meeting called to order at 6:30
by Supervisor Weaver. All board members
present. Pledge to the flag. Other
people present were Jennifer Slabic, Banton Heister and Bernadette Weaver. Motion by John Mella seconded by Doug Ritchie to
approve minutes from the August meeting. M/C Treasurer’s report was given and the general
account is $276,625.48 and the money market account is $41,060.17. Motion by Kristie
Simrau seconded by Doug Ritchie to accept and file the treasurer’s report as
presented. The clerk presented the bills
to be paid in the amount of $24,788.33.
Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded
by Doug Ritchie to pay the bills in the amount of $24,788.33. M/C.
The clerk will contact GFL to attend our next meeting regarding the
billing.
County Commissioner, Kyle
Grove, was absent but did have a report for the board.

by Jodie Klamer for Resolution # 15 2022
Tax Rate Request. The millage rate will
be .7618 to be used for operating expenses.

Discussions on the ARPA
funds. Discussed getting someone to do
the windows and doors on the North side of the hall. Also would like to get the rest of Ridge
Cemetery surveyed and marked out. There
was mention of Lapham, Statewide and SSI Surveying. Jennifer will get some information together
to let them know what we need.
Bernadette Weaver presented a
property split in section 3 for Todd and Kay Gawel. Bernadette stated that everything met the
requirements for the property split. The
original parcel is 74.44 acres and they would like to do a split to two
parcels, the first will be 49.44 acres and include their residence at 3400 N.
Hockaday Road and the second totals 25.00 acres which is vacant. This split is on the Corner of Hockaday Road
and East Wertz Road. Motion by John
Mella seconded by Jodie Klamer for Resolution#17 – 2022 to allow the property
split for Todd and Kay Gawel to split 74.44 acres into two parcels as explained
in the survey. Roll call Klamer – yes,
Simrau-yes, Weaver- yes, Mella –yes, Ritchie- yes 5 ayes and 0 nays, ayes
carried M/C.
Bernadette Weaver presented a
property split in section 26 for Leon and Vana Wheeler. Bernadette stated that everything met the
requirements for the property split. The
original parcel is 20 acres on Nettleton Road.
They would like to split into two 10 acre parcels. Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded by John
Mella for Resolution # 18 2022 to allow Leon and Vana Wheeler to split a 20
acre parcel into two 10 acre parcels.

Ritchie- yes 5 ayes 0 nays, M/C.
Bernadette Weaver presented a
property split in section 6 for Walter and Deidre Iciek. The original parcel is 52.55 acres into 2
parcels. The first parcel will be 47.245
and the second will be 5.305 acres.
Bernadette stated that everything met the requirements for the property
split. Motion by Kristie Simrau seconded
by John Mella for Resolution # 19 -2022 for property split for Walter and
Deidre Iciek to split 52.55 acres on Wertz Road into two parcels first one
47.245 and the second parcel 5.305 acres.
Roll call vote Klamer – yes, Simrau-yes, Weaver- yes, Mella –yes,
Ritchie- yes 5 ayes and 0 nays M/C.
The clerk stated that her
election workers for the General Election will be Pam Weaver, Cheryl Edgar,
Phyllis Greer, Victoria Hoermann, Anne Patsey and Kearstin Simrau as
alternate. Motion by Doug Ritchie
seconded by John Mella to approve the election inspectors. M/C.
Jennifer Slabic gave the
cemetery report. She stated that Tom
Lennon did purchase two lots but still would like the other family lots. She stated there were four cremations and one
full burial. She commented about garbage
dumped in the corner of McClure Cemetery and she cleaned up some of it. Supervisor received the cemetery deeds
donated back to the township from Ida Swirles.
John Mella gave the fireboard
report. John also stated about the
Hazard Mitigation meeting he attended.
Supervisor stated that himself
and John were going to meet with the road commission for the annual meeting but
it was canceled due to illness. There
has been ditching done on McClure Cemetery Road. That is very much appreciated from the
township. They would like to do some
more in the township. The clerk
commented about the death of the vault company employee while doing a burial in
McClure Cemetery and she sent a sympathy card to the vault company to give to
his family on behalf of the township.
