Gladwin Township Board Meeting
October 19, 2022
Meeting called to order at 6:30
by Supervisor Weaver. All board members
present. Pledge to the flag. Other
people present were Jennifer Slabic, Kyle Grove, Ron
Taylor, Terry Brokoff. Motion by John Mella seconded by Doug Ritchie to approve minutes from the September
meeting. M/C Treasurer’s
report was given and the general account is $278,930.05 and the money market
account is $41,063.77. Motion by Doug Ritchie seconded Kristie Simrau to accept and
file the treasurer’s report as presented. The clerk presented the bills to be paid in
the amount of $15,391.63. Motion by John Mella seconded by Doug
Ritchie to pay the bills in the amount of $15,391.63. M/C. The clerk handed out the past months GFL
statements for the board to review.
County Commissioner, Kyle
Grove, and gave report. Ron Taylor,
commissioner was also present. Kyle
reported on the lack of Sheriff’s deputies and the jail.
Terry Brokoff,
Gladwin County Community Foundation, was present giving the update on the money
available in the foundation and yearly report.
Jennifer Slabic
gave a cemetery report. Last mowing was
done. 3 cremations and
one full burial. There is a dead
tree at McClure that needs to be removed.
Tom Lennon was questioning whether the McClure fence line has been
surveyed. Jennifer stated that we go by
our records. Jennifer stated that a
cremation burial size is 16x 16 anything larger than should be
considered a larger would be considered a large cremation burial. The board discussed rate that we should
charge for a larger burial. The board
also discussed how many large cremation burial in each
lot.
Discussed the garbage millage
it is currently set at $160 per parcel. Motion by John Mella
seconded by Kristie Simrau for Resolution #20 to set the Garbage Millage at
$175 per parcel. Ayes carried motion carried.
Supervisor had a tree removal
bid from Drakes Tree Service for $8,000.
Supervisor commented that he could rent a skytrack
for 24 hours less than $600 and he has people to take the trees down. No decision was made. Supervisor commented on stopping by the
residence on Wagarville and Hockaday
and they said that they want to fix the cars and sell them.
Cemetery surveying, the clerk
mentioned that the board should meet in January when we have our budget
workshop and set out the plan for the surveying to be done next summer.
Clerk stated that the voting
equipment has been tested and set for the election from election source. Doug
Ritchie commented about signs for the amish
on our roads. Amish
structure going up on Wirtz and Nickless. We had requested signs to the road commission
and they would not order them for us.
